Policies

Manitowoc American Legion Baseball, Inc. has adopted the following policies when a student-athlete is no longer participating, whether voluntarily or involuntarily, with their respective team:

I. Participation Fees: Manitowoc American Legion Baseball, Inc. encourages all student athletes to tryout as no prospective player shall be denied participation based upon their respective financial circumstances. Scholarships, payment plans and different methods of payment are available to those who qualify.

II. Tryouts: In the event a student-athlete has prepaid a participation fee and was not selected to participate within the Manitowoc American Legion Baseball program, any participation fee paid by said student-athlete shall be refunded in its entirety within ten (10) days.

III. Discharge: In the event that a student-athlete is discharged from the Manitowoc American Legion Baseball program based upon conduct deemed inappropriate or detrimental to the team by their respective coach, any participation fee paid by the subject student-athlete shall be retained in its entirety by Manitowoc American Legion Baseball, Inc.

IV. Voluntary Termination: In the event that a student-athlete voluntarily terminates his involvement with his respective team after he has paid his participation fee, Manitowoc American Legion Baseball, Inc. shall retain $60.00 of the participation fee to apply towards the cost of apparel (i.e., hat, t-shirts, socks) supplied to the student-athlete. If the voluntary termination occurs within the first week of the subject season, Manitowoc American Legion Baseball, Inc. shall refund fifty percent (50%) of the remaining portion of the participation fee after the payment of the aforementioned apparel costs. If the voluntary termination occurs after one week but prior to two weeks after the commencement of the applicable season, Manitowoc American Legion Baseball, Inc. shall refund twenty-five percent (25%) of the remaining balance after the payment of the apparel costs. If the voluntary termination occurs after two weeks of the applicable season has been completed, Manitowoc American Legion Baseball, Inc. shall retain the entire participation fee.

V. Injury: In the event a student-athlete sustains a season ending injury after the commencement of the applicable team’s season, Manitowoc American Legion Baseball, Inc. shall retain $60.00 of the participation fee to apply towards the cost of apparel supplied to the student-athlete. The remaining portion of the participation fee shall be refunded on a prorated basis based upon the number of games remaining in the applicable team’s schedule as of the date of the subject injury. In the event a student-athlete sustains an injury prior to the commencement of the season and is later released to participate in the remaining portion of the season, Manitowoc American Legion Baseball, Inc. shall retain $60.00 of the participation fee to apply to the cost of apparel supplied to the student-athlete and the remaining portion of the participation fee shall be refunded on a prorated basis based upon the number of games the student-athlete was unable to participate in.

VI. Appeals: In the event a student-athlete requests additional reimbursement in excess of what is identified-above, said student-athlete shall submit a written request to the President of the Board of Directors of Manitowoc American Legion Baseball, Inc. within thirty (30) days after the completion of applicable team’s season explaining the individual facts and extenuating circumstances surrounding their respective request for reimbursement. The Board of Directors shall issue a written decision within ten (10) days of the subject appeal. The decision of the Board of Directors shall be final in all respects.
