Varsity:
Kevin Stangel (Head Coach) Coach Stangel has
served as the varsity head coach since in 2003.
Coach Stangel is an attorney with the law firm of Salutz & Salutz
LLP in Manitowoc
having worked in that capacity since 2001.
He is married to his wife Carrie and has two children, Reece and
Lauren.
Matt Phipps ( Assistant
coach )
Coach Phipps is now an
experienced Manitowoc Legion program assistant coach with the Colts.
Coach Phipps is a 2006 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln
High School and is
currently attending the UW-Stout where he is a member of the baseball
team. Coach Phipps played
four years of legion baseball and was named the varsity Most Valuable
Player in 2006, was selected to the 2006 Fox River Valley Conference All
Star game and received the 2006 Manitowoc Legion Scholarship.
Chris Krepline (Assistant
Coach) Coach Krepline is a graduate of
Reedsville
High School and played
with the Manitowoc Legion program for four seasons.
He holds several single season and career records as a pitcher
with the Manitowoc Legion.
Chris has graduated from Carthage College
where he was a member of their pitching staff.
Chris pitched for the Green Bay Bullfrogs and been among the team
leaders in wins, innings pitched and ERA.
Junior Varsity:
Art Neilitz ( Head
Coach )
Coach Neilitz started with the Manitowoc Legion in 1985 and has served
in numerous capacities including his current role as junior varsity
coach and general manager. He has
also previously served as the assistant varsity coach at
Manitowoc
Lincoln High School under then head coach Gene Mand and then after coach
Mand's retirement as head freshman coach through 2009.

Clippers:
Todd Hadler ( Head Coach )
Coach Hadler joined the
American Legion coaching staff in 2000. He
and two other coaches helped guide the Junior Varsity teams to four
consecutive WI State appearances from 2000-2003.
Coach Hadler was the 9th grade
baseball coach for Manitowoc Lincoln
High School from 1999-2003
before being promoted to varsity assistant coach in 2004.
He develops talented hitting
teams and great outfield players. The
Clippers join a very strong Oshkosh/Omro/Winneconne conference and have
a competitive non-conference schedule every year.
We look forward to many years of

Colts:
Lanny Teteak
Lanny
returned to Manitowoc after teaching and coaching baseball in Santa
Barbara, CA for thirty years.
Lanny has coaching experience with various levels of youth baseball,
including, but not limited to, acting as the pitching coach at San
Marcos High School. Lanny is a
welcome addition to the legion coaching staff for the 2011 season and
brings a significant amount of baseball experience to legion baseball.

Roving Coaches:
Jim Fuhs:
In 1976, Jim helped start American Legion
baseball in Manitowoc,
and has served in multiple, overlapping capacities as head coach,
general manager, fund-raiser, and president.
Jim also helped start a YMCA
winter baseball program in the 1960s, and he was the driving force
behind the addition of a Player Development Facility at Municipal
Baseball Field in 2005. He was
the catcher on five state championship teams in the 1950s (one high
school, three American Legion and one semi- pro).
He also played on three
consecutive Legion national regional championship teams, which is still
a national record. Jim was a
scholarship baseball player at the University of Wisconsin,
where he was a co-captain as a freshman and a four-year award winner.
He also is a member of the
American Baseball Coaches Association, the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches
Association, and a lifetime member of the
University
of Wisconsin's
National "W Club ". Jim has
received numerous awards which include: YMCA Leadership Award in 2008,
Bowl of Hygeia Community Service Award in 2008, Distinguished Service
Award from the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association in 2006, YMCA
Layman of the Year in 1979, Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame
Appreciation Award in 1982. YMCA Service to Youth Award in 1987, and
Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame induction in 2002. Jim celebrates over
50 years of coaching baseball and over 30 years with Manitowoc Legion
baseball. |
